The Original Big Idea: The Post Office has been relocated, to alleviate heavy traffic and the historic Green Street area has become a greater community asset.
The office opened on Green Street in 1967. City leaders in the early 1970s passed a resolution asking postal officials to consider moving it.
A public meeting was held in January 2018 to discuss the possible move.
Recently, city officials received a letter from postal officials confirming that the post office would be moving. The location is to be announced. The Postal Service won’t relocate it until they find a new location, which has to be within a certain distance of the current location.
