The City of Gainesville was awarded a $1.2 million contract to Georgia Development Partners, Inc. (GDP).  Funds will allow construction to continue on the main trail and to develop the trailhead in the former maintenance yard in conjunction with the stream restoration of the North Fork Tributary to Flat Creek.

Construction, including landscaping, is expected to be completed in March 2012.  It is anticipated that Phase I of the Midtown trail, which runs from its northern terminus at the American Red Cross building south to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and including the new trailhead and park in the former maintenance yard, will be open for public use in mid- to late-spring 2012.
